Wow, 2 newsletters in a week! It’s been a while since I’ve been this active lol but I have a lot to share on the social media side of things 😊
First off, “Where my lore started” is a trend that has blown up on Instagram in the last couple weeks, in which writers have been compiling graphics that show off all the books, media, and other early influences in their childhood/teenhood, etc. that persist in their writing today.
I really haven’t had much time lately to make graphics for trends and I’m trying to not give in to the pull of participating in every trend anymore because of the way IG will shadowban me and make 1-2 hours of work pointless in the end when no one sees my posts…so then it becomes a waste of my time but I’ve seen other writers getting so creative with this trend and it looked like fun…and I was a kid during the era when cutting out pictures from magazines and carefully arranging everything you loved and made you *YOU* inside the clear laminated cover of your binder was one of the most fun things you could do in middle school lol…so I had to make one!
Without further ado…here is where my lore started, separated by era (childhood, tween, and teenage years):
Let me know if we have any interests in common! 🖤
This past month, I also participated in #FantasyIndiesFebruary on BlueSky as an excuse to talk about TBOAD as my WIP (since I am editing it once more) and I never made a social media writing account until *after* I started querying TBOAD, so it’s the first time I’ve really done a fun little challenge like this using that book :)
I’m not going to include all 28 answers here lol but I will share the highlights! (You can check out the full thread here, if you want to, though)
Maybe my favorite thing I shared for this challenge was actually a doodle I did based on a meme—not drawn for any specific prompt, just because I wanted to, but it worked out that I doodled this a few days before Valentine’s Day, so for the Valentine’s #FantasyIndiesFebruary Free Friday prompt, of course I shared this cute Ehren & Adrian art 😂💕
(I may or may not properly paint and color this one day because I love it so much since it captures Ehren & Adrian’s personalies and relationship dynamic perfectly 😂)
Here are a few other highlights from the month:
(I actually made a reel version of this post last weekend, so check it out! 💕)
(also made a reel for that… lol)
“Oi, oi, oi! What are we so serious about over here?”
Ehren recognized Brennan’s voice and turned to see him arm-in-arm with Adrian. Their faces were both rosy—they had obviously been drinking a lot.
“Sharing sad back stories?” Adrian cheekily added.
“Well, don’t you two look chummy!” Noralee laughed.“Do we?” Brennan asked, grinning over at Adrian. “You know, Adrian’s not so bad once you get an entire bottle o’ whiskey in her…”
“Shut up!” Adrian playfully smacked Brennan in the ribs, but it may have been harder than she’d meant because he winced.
“Well, there’s room here for you two, if you’d like to join,” Noralee offered.
“I’d prefer to stay standing,” Adrian replied. “With this bloody tight dress and the fact that we’ll have to sit for several more hours—actually, let’s not think about that.”
“Well, I’m going to sit with my best new pal, Ehren!” Brennan swung an arm around Ehren’s neck after he plopped himself down on the bench.
Ehren laughed, “You really are drunk, aren’t you?”
This post is apparently too long for an email, so check out the rest of that thread if you’re curious to learn a little more about TBOAD :)
And please follow me on Instagram or BlueSky if you already aren’t!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
